Why Gymnastics?

Most healthy children have an innate need to play, move, run, jump and climb. Gymnastics provides the perfect structure and opportunity to do all of these things. At NorthWind, we strive to nurture that limitless energy and channel it into fun and rewarding activities and skills. Gymnastics training and conditioning improves strength and muscle tone while reinforcing coordination, movement and balance. Gymnastics helps growing children learn to be comfortable in their bodies and reinforces postive self-image. Concerned that your kids are spending too much time in front of TV? Get them off the couch and into the Gym! Contact us today for more information!

Why doesn't anyone answer the phone... ?

Actually we do answer the phone whenever we can but at certain times it may seem otherwise. Unfortunately, we do not have a full time office manager and chances are very good that all staff are on the floor coaching. We answer the phone when we're not on the floor. We also try our best to answer all phone messages except telemarketers, so please leave a message and we will respond as soon as possible.

It's Snowing! Is the gym going to be closed ...?

Our Calendar page explains our policy. Generally the Gym will close if Forsyth County schools are closed. We will have a status message on the answering machine by 9am on the day in question. We are also now on Facebook. Just search for NorthWind Gymnastics on Facebook for special updates.

What is a "tuck Tsuk"... ?

A tucked Tsukahara is a Vaulting skill and a variation on a family of vaults sharing a common 1/4 to 1/2 turn onto the vault table that were invented by Japanese Olympic gymnastics star Mitsuo Tsukahara. The vault ends with a back tuck somersault to a landing. Newcomers to gymnastics are fascinated to learn that new skills and techniques are constantly being invented and perfected and are often named after the athlete who invented or first perfomed the skill in competition.
